Make A Wish Foundation granted the wish of terminally ill girl to be a Catwalk Model
Karachi : Make A Wish Foundation Pakistan granted the wish of 16 years Khatija Saleem suffering from cancer to be Catwalk Model. The ailing girl participated in the Fashion Week with top Models of Pakistan.
Khatija shared her cherished dream of becoming a Catwalk Model to Make A Wish Foundation Pakistan an organization granting the last wishes of terminally ill children in Pakistan . On personal efforts Mr Ishtiaq Baig, President Make A Wish Foundation Pakistan requested Frieha Altaf of Catwalk Productions to accommodate the wish of Khatija.
Khatija spent a day with the Models backstage practicing the walk and trying outfits. Khatija wearing designers dress walked down at the Catwalk with the renowned Fashion. The hundreds of audience at the hall gave Khatija her standing ovation and appreciated her determination and courage.

لاعلاج بچوں کی آخری خواہش کی تکمیل کے ادارے میک اے وش فاؤنڈیشن پاکستان نے گزشتہ روز کینسر کے موذی مرض میں مبتلا 4 لاعلاج بچوں 14 سالہ آمنہ اخلاص، 10 سالہ عثمان غنی، 7 سالہ عمر کمال اور 12 سالہ رضا رفیق کو نجی ایئر لائن ایئر بلیو کے تعاون سے ان کی خواہش کے مطابق ہوائی جہاز کا سفر کرایا
کراچی: 31 جنوری 2011ء :ہوائی جہاز کے اس سفر میں میک اے وش فاؤنڈیشن پاکستان کے بانی صدر اشتیاق بیگ ور بچوں کے والدین بھی شریک تھے۔ کراچی سے اسلام آباد روانگی کے وقت ایئر پورٹ پر موجود میک اے وش کے رضاکاروں اور ایئر لائن کے سینئر اہلکاروں نے ان بچوں کو رخصت کیا۔ جہاز میں دوران سفر ان بچوں کے چہروں پر خوشی قابل دید تھی۔ وہ برسوں سے دیکھے جانے والے خواب کی تکمیل پر آج نہایت پرمسرت نظر آرہے تھے۔ اسلام آباد ایئر پورٹ پر فارن آفیسرز وائف ایسوسی ایشن کے عہدیداروں نے ان بچوں کو ریسیو کیا اور بچوں کو فیصل مسجد لے جایا گیا جہاں انہوں نے اپنے ننھے ہاتھ اٹھاکر کچھ عرصہ قبل طیارے کے حادثے میں جاں بحق ہونے والے افراد کیلئے دعائے مغفرت کی۔ بعد میں قومی اسمبلی کے ڈائریکٹر پروٹوکول نسیم خالد نے ان بچوں کو قومی اسمبلی کی بلڈنگ کا دورہ کرایا۔بعد ازاں ان بچوں نے وزارت خارجہ کا دورہ کیا جہاں سیکریٹری خارجہ سلمان بشیر اور ان کی اہلیہ نے ان بچوں کو ریسیو کیا اور ان کے اعزاز میں وزارت خارجہ میں غیر ملکی مہمانوں کیلئے مختص ہال میں عصرانے کا اہتمام کیا۔ آج کے دن جہاں ایک طرف ان بچوں کا ہوائی جہاز میں سفر کرنے کا خواب پورا ہوا وہاں انہیں قومی اسمبلی اور وزارت خارجہ جیسے اہم ادارے کو قریب سے دیکھنے اور اہم افراد سے ملنے کا موقع ملا۔ انہیں اس بات پر یقین نہیں آرہا تھا کہ زندگی ان پر اتنا مہربان بھی ہوسکتی ہے۔

Pakistani Students  Set New Record at Guinness Book
Karachi: 18 members of the Climb Fit Team ( Australia ) squeezed into a standard Smart Car on the set of Australia Smashes Guinness World Records, at the Warringah Mall, Sydney Australia on 25th Jan. 2010.
Now a 19 member team of students of Karachi Grammar School and other Schools led by Miss Aymen Saleem Yousuf has achieved the new fame breaking Guinness World of Records by accommodating 19 persons in a Smart Car. This historic event took place on Wednesday, 15th Dec. 2010 at DHA Creek Club, Karachi in front of a Jury and reported worldwide. Mr. Nisar Khoro, Speaker Sindh Assembly attended the event as Chief Guest.

The jury was comprising of Nisar Khoro, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig Advisor to Prime Minister, Sharmila Farooqui Advisor to CM Sindh on Information, Former Cricket Captain Waseem Akram, Former Hockey Captain and Olympian Islahuddin and Ishtiaq Baig Hon. Consul General of Morocco.
Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig & Ishtiaq Baig, uncles of Aymen Saleem congratulated the team of Karachi Grammar School for this achievement and commented that this is a great honour for Pakistan for setting new record at the Guinness Book.

میک اے وش فاؤنڈیشن کا پرچم خلائی اسٹیشن پر لگا دیا گیا،پاکستان سمیت 40 ممالک کے نام درج
کراچی:امریکی خلائی شٹل ڈسکوری کے خلا باز مائیکل ٹی گڈ جو میک اے وش فاؤنڈیشن امریکہ کے سرگرم رکن بھی ہیں جب اپنے حالیہ مشن پر خلا میں گئے تو اپنے ساتھ میک اے وش فاؤنڈیشن انٹرنیشنل کا پرچم بھی لے گئے جسے خلائی اسٹیشن پر نصب کیا گیا۔ اس پرچم پر میک اے وش فاؤنڈیشن سے منسلک 40 ممالک کے نام درج ہیں جس میں پاکستان کا نام بھی تحریر ہے۔ یہ پہلا موقع ہے جب ایک خلا باز نے کسی فلاحی تنظیم کا پرچم خلا میں پہنچایا ہے اور پاکستان کو یہ اعزاز حاصل ہوا ہے کہ اس کا نام بھی خلا میں اس پرچم پر تحریر ہے۔میک اے وش فاؤنڈیشن پاکستان کے بانی صدر مرزا اشتیاق بیگ نے اپنے حالیہ دورہ امریکہ میں خلا باز مائیکل ٹی گڈ سے ملاقات کی اور میک اے وش فاؤنڈیشن پاکستان کی طرف سے ان کا شکریہ ادا کیا اور انہیں پاکستان کے دورے کی دعوت دی۔
 

Allama Iqbal Remembered
Hamdard Naunehal Assembly Karachi chapter has organized a function to celebrate Allama Iqbal’s birthday on Monday November 15, 2010 at a local hotel. The function comprised recitation of holy nesses from the Holy Qur’an, Na’at, speeches, poetic tribute to Allama Iqbal and dua-i-Said.
Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan said that the Youth of Pakistan had all the abilities and capacity to face the challenges of present day, provided they were provided good education and training.
She said that Hakim Said had made all-out efforts to imbibe the message of Allama Iqbal in the minds of youth and established Hamdard Schools, Colleges, University and other institutions for their better education, mental training and health. Hakim Said was of the view that unless arrangements for the better education and training of the youth were made, their hidden and eagle like qualities and talents, according to Iqbal’s perception, would not come into action, she added.
She advised the children that they should concentrate on their studies with keen interest so that when they would come at the helm of country’s affairs they should be able to make the dream of Iqbal, Quaid-i-Azam and Hakim Said a reality.
Chief guest, poetess and director of Public Relations, Fatima Hasan said that in his philosophy of Khudi , Iqbal had taught to have full confidence in one’s own person and did not allow others to control one’s mind and person by the influence of their ideas.
‘If, according to Iqbal, one is overwhelmed by other person’s ideas his/her own personality would be disappeared and he/she would be compelled to follow other, she said, adding that by raising their Khudi the children and-the youth would be able to become complete human beings and carry their nation to the height of glory.
While appreciating the speeches of children, she told them to take care of the pronunciation of the difficult words.
Child speakers Angbeen Mushtaque, Mohammed Mazhar, Amna Sahar, Shumaila Zareen, Maryam Tariq, Saba Munawwar and Mohammed Khubeeb also spoke and paid great tribute to the philosopher–poet, Allama Iqbal. Teachers, parents and children in a large number attended the function.

ہم پاکستان کو حکیم سعید کے تصور پاکستان کے مطابق بنائیں گے،ہمدرد نونہال اسمبلی کراچی میں نونہال مقررین کا عزم!

ماہر معاشیات ڈاکٹر شاہد حسن صدیقی نے کہا ہے کہ حکیم سعید نے چودہ سال پہلے اپنی ایک تقریر میں غیرملکی قرضوں کے جن برے اثرات کا ذکر کیا تھا ان سے آج ہم دوچار ہیں۔ انہوں نے اتنے عرصے قبل ان کا ادراک کر لیا تھا اور ان سے بچنے نیز غربت کے خاتمے کا جو علاج تجویز کیا وہ تھا کہ غربت اختیار کرو یعنی انتہائی سادگی اپناؤ۔ وہ شہید حکیم محمد سعید کی بارہویں برسی کے موقع پر جمعہ 15 ۔اکتوبر 2010 کی شام ’’شہید پاکستان کا تصور پاکستان‘‘ کے موضوع پر ہمدرد نونہال اسمبلی کراچی کے اجلاس سے ایک مقامی ہوٹل میں خطاب کر رہے تھے۔ انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ اجلاس میں بچوں کی تقاریرسن کر انہیں بے حد خوشی ہوئی ہے کہ یہ بچے اتنی فہم و فراست رکھتے ہیں، نہیں ملک کے مسائل کا ادراک ہے اور وہ ان کا مقابلہ کرنے کا حوصلہ و جذبہ رکھتے ہیں۔ یہ نسل جب آنے والے کل میں پاکستان کی باگ و ڈور سنبھالے گی تو پاکستان کو بلندیوں پر لے جائے گی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ یہ سب حکیم صاحب کے قائم کردہ چلڈرن فورم ’’ہمدرد نونہال اسمبلی‘‘ میں بچوں کی کی جانے والی بہترین تربیت کا نتیجہ ہے کہ یہ بچے پرعزم و پراعتماد ہیں۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ ہمدرد ولیج اسکول کی بچی بڑی جرآت و اعتماد کے ساتھ اپنے خیالات کا اظہار کر رہی تھی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ حکیم صاحب نے اس ملک سے جو کچھ حاصل کیا اس سے زیادہ اس ملک کو دے کر گئے اور اس سے صرف روحانی فوائد حاصل کیے۔ اسی طرح بچے بھی اپنے ملک کی خدمت کر کے روحانی خوشی حاصل کرسکتے ہیں۔ علم جہاں سے بھی ملے حاصل کریں کہ علم مومن کی میراث ہے۔ بقول حکیم صاحب غربت یعنی سادگی اختیار کریں، پاکستان سے محبت اور اس کی تعمیر کریں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ محترمہ سعدیہ راشد مبارک باد کی مستحق ہیں کہ انہوں نے حکیم صاحب کا مشن جاری رکھا ہوا ہے اور انہیں یقین ہے کہ جنت کی کھڑکی سے شہید حکیم سعید انہیں اور ان نونہالوں کو فخر و مسرت کے ساتھ دیکھ رہے ہوں گے۔ محترمہ سعدیہ راشد نے نونہال اسمبلی سے خطاب کر تے ہوئے کہا کہ جب تحریک پاکستان عروج پر تھی اس وقت حکیم محمد سعید نوجوان تھے اور دیگر بے شمار مسلم نوجوانوں کی طرح تحریک پاکستان میں بھرپور حصہ لے رہے تھے۔ یہی وجہ تھی کہ پاکستان کے معرض وجود میں آنے کے بعد انہوں نے اپنے خوابوں کی تعبیر۔۔۔ پاکستان کی تعمیر نو میں حصہ لینے کے لیے یہاں ہجرت کی۔ انہوں نے پاکستان کو تعلیم یافتہ اور صحت مند بنانے کے لیے ان تھک محنت کی اور اپنی زندگی پاکستان کی بقا و ترقی کے لیے وقف کر دی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ حکیم صاحب کے قائم کردہ طب و صحت، تعلیم اور معاشرتی فلاح کے ادارے آج بھی ملک و قوم کی خدمت کا فریضہ انجام دے رہے ہیں۔ انہوں نے نونہالوں سے کہا کہ اب ان کی باری ہے، وہ ملک کا مستقبل ہیں اور انہیں اپنے وطن عزیز کو اس بلندی تک لے جانا ہے جس کا خواب ان کے بزرگوں نے دیکھا تھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ترقی و بلندی کی منزل کا حصول آسان نہیں ہے، لیکن ناممکن نہیں۔ ہمارے اسلاف نے ناممکن کو ممکن کر دکھایا اور انہیں یقین ہے کہ نونہال بھی بڑے ہو کر پاکستان کو ایک ترقی یافتہ فلاحی مملکت بنانے کے خواب کو شرمندۂ تعبیر کریں گے۔ اجلاس میں اس سے قبل ہمدرد نونہال اسمبلی کراچی کی 1996 کی ایک فلم دکھائی گئی۔ اس اسمبلی میں شہید حکیم محمد سعید نے اپنی تقریر میں، جس کا حوالہ ڈاکٹر شاہد حسن صدیقی نے بھی اپنی تقریر میں بھی دیا، کہا کہ بعثت نبویؐ کا ایک اہم منشا و مقصد دنیا سے جہالت کو دور کرنا اور علم و تعلیم کو عام کرنا تھا۔ لیکن ہم نے اشاعت تعلیم سے انتہائی غفلت برتی اور اس وقت تقریباً پانچ کروڑ بچے اسکول نہیں جا رہے ہیں اور ان کی تعداد میں ہر سال 39 لاکھ کا اضافہ ہو رہا ہے۔ اس اسمبلی میں خضدار، بلوچستان کی ایک ہونہار بچی آسیہ شیر محمد نے بھی پرمغز تقریر کی تھی، مگر یہ روشن دماغ لڑکی ایک نہ گفتہ با حادثے کا شکار ہوگئی۔ نونہال اسمبلی سے نونہال مقررین انگبین مشتاق، محمد مظہر خان، نائمہ افتخار، سید سلمان جاوید، شنزہ سرفراز، مدیحہ امتیاز اور رمشا کنول نے بھی خطاب کیا اور متفقہ طور پر اس عزم کا اظہار کیا کہ وہ پاکستان کو شہید حکیم محمد سعید کے تصور پاکستان کے مطابق بنا کر دم لیں گے۔ تلاوت کلام پاک کی سعادت نونہال شارق احمد انصاری اور نعت رسول مقبول ؐ پیش کرنے کی سعادت عبیدالرحمن نے حاصل کی۔ منظوم خراج عقیدت نونہال سید زوار احمد، نظامت کے فرائض خوشبو نے جبکہ موضوع کی مناسبت سے ٹیبلو ہمدرد پبلک اسکول کے مڈل سیکشن کے نونہالوں نے پیش کیا۔ دعائے سعید پر یہ اسمبلی برخاست ہوئی جس میں والدین، اساتذہ اور طلبہ کی بڑی تعداد نے شرکت کی۔
 

Safeguard and Save the Children complete construction in 50 schools within 50 days of the 100 Days – 100 Schools campaign

Karachi: Procter & Gamble’s Safeguard brand and Save the Children are working together to build sanitation facilities in 100 schools within 100 days across low-income areas of three of Pakistan’s major cities, Karachi, Lahore and Quetta. So far, Safeguard and Save the Children have built 50 handwashing, toilet and water supply facilities in schools across the three cities: 14 in Quetta, 20 in Lahore and 16 in Karachi.

According to UNICEF Pakistan, “About 80% of all major diseases such as diarrhea, cholera, typhoid, hepatitis are due to unsafe drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene.” The incidence of disease is greater in developing countries such as Pakistan, where a large proportion of the population lives in conditions of extreme poverty, with an improper sewage disposal system and inadequate sanitation facilities in public places including hospitals, health centers and schools and unavailability of clean water. WHO states that the cheapest and most effective measure against common illnesses is the simple act of handwashing with soap. Safeguard therefore aims to reduce the incidence of common illnesses by not only imparting health and hygiene education on handwashing with soap to children, but also engaging in building handwashing and toilet facilities in schools across Pakistan.

Safeguard is contributing a grant to Save the Children to provide health and hygiene facilities to 40,000 children across the nation. Through this partnership, Safeguard and Save the Children aim toaddress the incidence of common illnesses arising from poor sanitation facilities in school children, and empower Pakistani children to adopt healthy habits through health education and improved access to handwashing, toilet and water supply facilities. The overall aim is to enable children and their families to adopt better health and hygiene habits in the long-term.

Safeguard Brand Manager, Mubashara Khalid, shared at a media trip to one of the Karachi schools: “We are thrilled to announce that we are on-track to achieving our target of building washrooms and hand washing facilities and providing water supply wherever needed to 100 schools within 100 days. Today marks the 50th day in our campaign and we have already reached the halfway mark by completing construction in 50 schools, spread across the rural areas of Karachi, Lahore and Quetta. We will be building these facilities this year, and are committed to provide sustainable maintenance to these facilities for the years to come

The principal of one of the schools touched by the campaign, Allah Bux Himayati School in Port Qasim, shared, “We hope that this initiative will raise the standards of health and hygiene within our school, as well as the rest of the schools reached through this campaign. Construction of proper handwashing and sanitation facilities will enable children, especially young girls, to not only adopt hygienic habits of washing their hands at critical times throughout the day but will also prevent children from dropping out of school. We hope to sustain the quality of the facilities built through this initiative in the years to come.”
