داران نے بھی بھرپور شرکت کی۔ معزز شرکاء کو بجلی کی بچت کے حوالے
سے مطالعاتی ومشاہداتی سطح پر ترغیب کا اہتمام کیا گیا تھا ۔افتتاحی
تقریب کے معزز اراکین ،وزیر برائے امور سمندر پار پاکستانی ڈاکٹر
فاروق ستار، وزیر برائے امور نوجوانان جناب فیصل سبزواری، ڈائریکٹر
یوتھ افیئرجناب خورشید علی شیخ اور سیکریٹری آرٹس کونسل جناب محمد
احمد شاہ نے خصوصی طور پر کے ای ایس سی کے اسٹال پر شرکت کی اور

کرتا ہوں جبکہ توانائی بچت سے متعلق ترغیبات نہایت پر اثر ہیں لہذا
اس نوعیت کی سر گرمیاں ذاتی و اجتماعی دونوں سطحوں پر جاری رہنا
چائیں تاکہ اسکے فوائد شہر کراچی کو حاصل ہوں ‘‘۔تقریب کے شرکاء نے
مذکورہ موضوع سے متعلق متعدد سوالات بھی پوچھے جن کے انہیں سیر
حاصل جوابات بھی دیئے گئے اور بجلی کی بچت سے متعلق گھر نیز دفاتر
میں اختیار کئے جانے والے مجوزہ اقدامات سے بھی آگاہ کیا گیا ۔

NEPRA has approved to Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC)
to hike power tariff by 96 paisa per unit, Geo News reported.
According to the NEPRA official, KESC proposed to raise tariff
by Rs 1.01.He said the hike granted in fuel adjustment charges
and will be payable in upcoming electricity bills.
Power tariff frozen for five months
The government has decided to put a freeze on
electricity tariff for the remaining period of the
current fiscal year owing to its inflationary impact
on economy and unending loadshedding, according to a
senior official.
“Let me assure you categorically that there will be
no increase in electricity tariff during remaining
months of the current fiscal year, except any
adjustment to fuel prices to be determined by Nepra
(National Electric Power Regulatory Authority),”
Shahid Sattar, an Adviser of the Water and Power
Ministry who heads the transition team on power
sector reforms, told media on Tuesday.
He said the impact of eight to nine per cent (Rs1.07
per unit) reduction in international fuel prices for
November would be passed on to consumers in December
bills. In his view, international oil prices,
whether going up or down, would continue to be
adjusted in the monthly electricity bills. Under an
agreement with international lending agencies, Nepra
has been notifying the impact of fluctuation in oil
prices to electricity consumers for more than a
year, which are separately shown in power bills.
Asked how the power sector deficit would be bridged
without increasing tariff, Mr Sattar said the
financial gap would be covered through recovery of
unpaid electricity bills from different consumers
and efficiency measures. “The problem is not tariff,
but non-payment,” he said, adding that power
companies were not getting payments against
electricity they sell. Last month, the water and
power ministry had requested the government to allow
15 per cent increase in tariff to meet full recovery
of electricity costs as its power sector arrears had
crossed Rs305 billion in November 2010.
Dr Nadeemul Haq, the deputy chairman of the planning
commission heading the power sector reforms, was
non-committal on electricity tariff, but agreed that
if managements of power companies were sleeping and
not collecting bills, it had nothing to do with
tariffs. Last month, the ministry of finance had put
its foot down against a 15 per cent increase in
power tariff until a full picture was presented by
the minister for water and power to clarify where
the revenue raised through about 95 per cent tariff
increase in almost a year was going.
The finance ministry had contended that increased
power rates were resulting in higher system losses
and theft. The political leadership also did not
approve of increasing tariff fearing a backlash at a
time of extreme energy shortages and when it was
already facing stiff resistance in introduction of
new tax measures and criticism for rising inflation.
Last month, the power ministry had reported total
receivables of about Rs305 billion, including about
Rs52 billion from Karachi Electric Supply
Corporation, Rs125 billion from private consumers
and Rs58 billion from four provincial governments
and Rs35 billion tax refunds from tax authorities,
besides federal agencies and some unpaid subsidies.

تھا، یہ گروہ لالے گروپ کے نام سے مشہور ہے، پولیس نے وہ ٹویوٹا
کرولا کار بھی قبضے میں لے لی ہے جس میں گروہ نے سفر کیا
تھا۔ڈیفینس پولیس نے ملزموں کے خلاف کیس رجسٹر کرکے ان کا 21 جنوری
تک جسمانی ریمانڈ حاصل کرلیا ہے ،ان ملزمان کو 22 جنوری کو عدالت
میں پیش کیا جائے گا۔کے ای ایس سی پولیس نے شہر بھر میں قائم سب
اسٹیشنوں میں مسلسل ہونے والی چوریوں پر گہری تفتیش کی کیونکہ
تانبے کے قیمتی تار ایک باقاعدہ منظم منصوبے کے تحت چوری کئے جارہے
تھے۔ پولیس نے اس سلسلے کو ختم کرنے کے لئے اپنا ایک باقاعدہ نیٹ
ورک قائم کیا جس کے ذریعے معلوم ہوا کہ چور ڈیفینس کے علاقے میں سب
اسٹیشن میں چوری کا منصوبہ بنا رہے ہیں۔ جیسے ہی گروہ نے کیماڑی کے
علاقے سے کار نمبر AQB-490 میں چوری کی واردات کی غرض سے سفر شروع
کیا کے ای ایس سی پولیس کو اطلاع مل گئی جس نے انہیں موقع واردات
کے راستے ہی میں گرفتار کرلیا۔چار گرفتار ملزمان میں گروہ کا
سربراہ عزیز الرحمن عرف لالے ولد مومن خان، محمدتریالے ولد سید
حبیب شاہ، محمد سلیم ولد عبدالمطلب اور کلیم حسین ولد مجاہد حسین
شامل ہیں۔ ملزمان کے قبضے سے کار سمیت تار کاٹنے کے آلات اور دو ٹی

سیکیوریٹی عملے نے کے ڈی اے ۔میمن گوٹھ ایکسٹرا ہائی ٹینشن
ٹرانسمیشن لائن کے ارد گرد مشتبہ نقل و حرکت دیکھی ، اور نامعلو م
ملزمان کو بھگانے کے لئے ہوائی فائرنگ کی جس کے نتیجے میں نامعلوم
ملزمان کو چوری کئے بغیر بھاگنے پر مجبورہو گئے۔ سہراب گوٹھ اور
عوامی کالونی پولیس اسٹیشن کی حدود میں بھی اسی قسم کی کارروائی کی
گئی جہاں کے ای ایس سی کی سیکوریٹی فورس نے نا معلوم چوروں کو کے
ای ایس سی کے آلات کی چوری سے قبل ہی بھاگنے پر مجبور کردیا۔

Karachi Electric Supply Company on Friday, 26th
November 2010 launched “KESC-Community Anti Theft Social
Development Partnership” Programme at Korangi Sector No. 10.
Chief Guest, Member National Assembly Mr. Asif Hasnain, Chief
Marketing and Communications Officer of KESC, Mr. Ghufran Atta
Khan and KESC’s DCOO Region 3, Amer Zia, are inaugurating the
event.
KARACHI: The Karachi Electric Supply
Company on Friday launched “KESC-Community Anti Theft Social
Development Partnership” Programme at Korangi Sector No. 10
where applications for new connections were received from the
local residents who had so far been using electricity through
kunda. A “New Connection Mobile Service” office for receiving
more applications has been stationed in the area till all the
aspiring applicants deposit their papers for new connections.
Member National Assembly Mr. Asif Hasnain was the chief guest at
the event, which attracted very positive response from this
recently developed Sector, called Bagh-e-Millat, comprising
around 40,000 to 50,000 residents. In the absence of regular
supply of electricity, about all the 2,500 households had been
using power through kundas. Mr. Hasnain, Ayub Shoaib MNA, and
Mr. Amir Moeen Pirzada, Khalid Iftikhar and Haleemur Rehman MPAs
motivated the residents and to apply for legal connections.
Under the “KESC-Community Anti Theft Social
Development Partnership” programme, organized by the KESC’s
Corporate Social Responsibility Department, the utility has
started to create a willingness among the illegal users of
electricity in the low income group areas to get their power
supply regularized through legal connections. Salient features
of this scheme are: provision of new connection at a discount
price of 50 per cent, Rs. 6,000 instead of Rs. 12,000 at
present, to be received in seven installments, 40 per cent with
application and remaining amount in six equal parts with the
upcoming current bills. While granting new connection to such
consumers, no outstanding dues will be charged to them for the
past illegal use of power. At the same time, the connections
will be provided on fast track basis. Finally, 10 per cent of
the total revenue coming from such a locality will be spent back
on the general civic development of the same area. The plan
envisages encouraging the illegal users of electricity to get
converted their supply into legal connections, in order to
eliminate the curse of power theft from the society.
At the Sector No. 10 of Korangi, the electricity supply network
including laying of low tension power cables, erection of poles
and fixing of PMTs has already been completed under the Rs. 40
million electrification scheme for the Sector. The KESC also
announced to donate a water purification plant of 20,000 liter
capacity for the benefit of the local residents that would be
financed from the 10 per cent of the total revenue from this
area.
In his key address to the gathering, Mr. Ghufran Atta Khan,
Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of KESC, said that
the first event of “KESC-Community Anti Theft Social Development
Partnership Programme” could become possible through the
cooperation of local political leadership. This Programme would
be taken to other such areas all across the City. He said that
elimination of illegal use of electricity was an essential
requirement to end the curse of load shedding. The KESC had been
making all out efforts to educate the general public in this
regard through various campaigns and drives.
Ms. Zehra Mehdi Aneek, General Manager, Corporate Social
Responsibility, introduced the details of the “KESC-Community
Anti Theft Social Development Partnership.” Mr. Asif Hasnain,
MNA, welcomed and appreciated the KESC for providing relief to
the low income group of the population in Korangi Sector No. 10.
He said the overwhelming majority of the general public had
wanted legal electricity connections. He expressed gratitude on
behalf of the local residents over the speedy action by KESC for
establishing power supply network in the area and also thanked
the utility for providing a water purification plant.
The political leaders assured the utility of full support in
future. Besides the parliamentarians present on the occasion,
Mr. Amer Zia, KESC’s DCOO Region 3, also spoke on the occasion.
Mr. Usama Qureshi from CEO’s Secretariat, Mr. Mohammad Siddiq,
Director, New Connections, and Ms. Ayesha Eirabie, Director
Corporate Communications were also present on the occasion on
behalf of the KESC management.
960MW additional
power from Tarbela in four years: WAPDA Chairman
Chairman Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) Shakil
Durrani has said that additional power of 960 MW will be
generated from Tarbela under new extension plan.
The WAPDA Chairman told that an estimated amount of US dollar
700 million would be spent on the project for which the World
Bank was supporting the government of Pakistan. He said,”
engineering consultants have reached Pakistan for the fourth
Tarbela extension project which will be completed in four
years”. After the completion of project, 960 MW additional
electricity would be generated from the reservoir, whose
existing power generation capacity is 3,400 MW. He said,”
development work is also underway on 969 MW Neelum- Jhelum
project which will be completed in seven years”. He said 10 km
tunnel had been constructed at the project site. He said the
United States had signed two agreements with Pakistan to provide
$66 million for the completion of Gomal Zam and Satpara Dam
projects.
Shakil Durrani said these dams would provide over 35 megawatts
power to nearly 55,000 households in South Waziristan and Skardu
and would be helpful to meet the country’s energy needs. He
added out of total amount, the United States would provide $40
million to help complete the Gomal Zam multipurpose dam in South
Waziristan in FATA.He said the project would provide 17.4
megawatts of electricity to 25,000 households, adding, the Gomal
Zam dam would have the capacity to store enough water to
irrigate 191,000 acres of farmland. He said the United States
would also provide $26 million to complete the Satpara
multipurpose dam project, located in Skardu in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The dam would provide 17.7 megawatts of power to nearly 30,000
households and help end loadshedding in Skardu. He said its
water storage capacity would irrigate over 15,000 acres of land
and provide 3.1 million gallons per day of potable drinking
water after completion of the dam. He added annual agricultural
output was expected to increase more than four-fold, generating
about $6 million in additional economic benefit to the community
each year. He said the two projects would provide energy
solutions and improve the quality of life for people in FATA,
Tank, Dera Ismail Khan and Gilgit Baltistan.

دراز کے علاقوں میں بجلی پہنچا کر بڑا کام کررہی ہے۔ اس اقدام سے
نہ صرف یہ کہ مقامی رہائشی افراد کا معیار زندگی بلند ہوگا بلکہ اس
علاقے میں تجارتی سرگرمیاں بھی بڑھ جائیں گی۔‘‘ اس موقع پر صوبائی
وزیر نے پیر سرہندی گوٹھ میں پی این ٹی تنصیب پر کے ای ایس سی کے
اقدام کو خراج تحسین پیش کیا ۔اس موقع پر انہوں نے علاقے کے رہائشی
افراد سے کہا کہ وہ میٹر یا بلوں میں کسی بھی شکایت کی صورت میں کے
ای ایس سی کے عملے کو فوراً مطلع کریں۔کے ای ایس سی کے ڈائرکٹر
سسٹم انجینئرنگ جمیل گل شیخ، نے اس موقع پر مہمانوں کو مطلع کیا کہ
اس پراجیکٹ کے تحت 12 دیہاتوں کو پہلے ہی بجلی فراہم کی جاچکی ہے ۔
ایک زیر غور منصوبے کے تحت 32 مزید دیہاتوں کو بجلی کی فراہم کی
جائے گی۔ حالیہ پراجیکٹ سے پیر سرہندی گوٹھ میں650 گھروں کو بجلی
فراہم ہوگی جس سے 20,000 افراد مستفید ہوں گے۔جمیل گل شیخ نے
صوبائی وزیر زکوٰۃ و عشر محمد ساجد جوکھیو کو اس موقع پر ایک
یادگاری نشان بھی پیش کیا۔کے ای ایس سی کے جی ایم سسٹم انجینئرنگ،
خلیل احمد لاڑک اور جی ایم ویلیج الیکٹریفیکیشن اسکیم رفیق احمد

اور اس تقریب کے حوالے سے اپنی رائے دیتے ہوئے کہا کہ اس سے نہ صرف
سینئر ملازمین کو پذیرائی ملے گی بلکہ ملازمین میں کام کرنے کا

NEPRA has approved to Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC)
to hike power tariff by 96 paisa per unit, Geo News reported.
According to the NEPRA official, KESC proposed to raise tariff
by Rs 1.01.He said the hike granted in fuel adjustment charges
and will be payable in upcoming electricity bills.

صدیقی، ڈپٹی چیف آپریٹنگ آفیسر عامر ضیاء، (KIMZ) آئی بی سی کے
جنرل منیجر عبدالحفیظ میمن بھی شامل تھے۔تقریب کے دوران مہمانِ
خصوصی اور دیگر شرکاء کو کے ای ایس سی کے اس نئے طرز پر سہولیات
فراہم کرنے والے (KIMZ-IBC) کے بارے میں تفصیلات بتائی گئیں اور
یہاں موجود مختلف شعبہ جات کا تعارف کرایا گیا۔ 55 اسکوائر کلومیٹر
کے اراضی میں واقع 8000 صنعتی اور 34000 گھریلو صارفین بجلی سے
متعلقہ مشکلات اور شکایات کے حوالے سے اس آئی بی سی میں رابطہ
کرسکتے ہیں۔
